ON CELTIC TRAILS

The salt mines at Hallstatt in the Salzkammergut and Dürrnberg near Salzburg look back over thousands of years of history. Salt was already being mined there by the Celts in prehistoric times. In Hallstatt and on the Dürrnberg scientists have been digging successfully for the remains of Celtic culture. Numerous finds from tunnels thousands of years old are witness to salt mining carried out by the Celts.
